Womens Beginning Handgun Training
At the Carry Depot, our beginning handgun training for women is design to meet the needs of each individual class. We take a look at the knowledge and experience of all who are in the class. If we have individuals who say "I don't like guns" or "I'm scared of guns", then our starting point differs from a class where most have some experience in handling handguns. In reality, even those individuals who seemingly have "some experience", still benefit from a basic introduction.
In order for each student to obtain the most from the class, we need each person to be very frank and honest about their knowledge, experiences, and concerns. THERE ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO THE HANDLING OF FIREARMS!!
The class we offer has a fee of $40 and lasts approximately 4 hours. Roughly 2-3 hours is spent in a classroom environment with the remainder done on the range (heated in the winter). We give each student a pistol training manual to take home as well as the use of a 22 pistol/ammo for use on the range. We like to limit the class size from 4-8.
The initial 2-3 hours in the classroom is designed to answer the following questions:
A. What are the basic safety rules of handling firearms? B. How do I handle ammunition? Will it discharge if I drop it? How does ammunition work? C. How do I determine if a gun is loaded or unloaded? D. There are many types of handguns (revolvers, semi-automatics, single action, double action) - how do I tell the difference and how are each handled/operated. E. How do I unload various firearms? F. How do I safely store firearms in my home, especially if I have children or if other children visit? G. What is the best way to teach children about firearms?
We encourage all Ladies to make a list of questions before the class to make sure we answer all!
